THE  WITT STUDIO CHORUS

As well as one-to-one singing, drama and speech lessons, the studio hosts group 

music-theatre workshops, with regular performances of

students' work.

 

Our aim is to take away the obstacles which hinder the freedom of your own natural voice, to give you a solid, reliable and healthy technique, and to develop your imagination as a singer, speaker, or actor.

 

Anthony also has an established reputation as an accompanist and pianist with wide experience of live and recorded work.

The studio has recently acquired an excellent piano and Anthony has vacancies for advanced piano students - grade 7 and above.

 

He is the musical director of The Reading Gay Chorus and The Witt Studio Chorus.

He has recently worked regularly with the 'Choir As Folk' ladies' choir.

He has been asked to act as musical director for the next Reading Operatic Society production of "Iolanthe" to be performed February 17th-20th 2010.

He was the musical director for the Woodley Light Operatic Society's productions of "The Yeomen of the Guard" in 2004, "A NIght at the Musicals" in 2005, "Oklahoma!" and "The Mikado" in 2006, "Another Night at the Musicals" in November 2007, "Orpheus in the Underworld" and "My Fair Lady" in 2008.

WE'RE NOT YOUR AVERAGE CHOIR ...


Come along to gain vocal skills and confidence,

experience the excitement of singing with others,

and develop your ability to sing harmonies.

There is no audition.

You do not have to sing by yourself.

This growing fun group of over 75 people welcomes men and women.

We use a rehearsal cd to help you learn your music -

especially useful for those who don't read music.

We sing a wide range of music - shows, rock and pop, films and popular classical, so there is something for everyone.

 

Music for the Spring session,
which starts on Wednesday 6th January 2010  is  -  
'Rule Britannia,' - Arne - Malcolm Sargent arrangement
Grand March from 'Aida,' - show-stopping chorus by Verdi
Bob Chilcott's 'Irish Blessing,'  - beautiful setting of traditional Irish words
'Waltz Of My Heart,' - one of Ivor Novello's most famous tunes
'Something Inside So Strong,'  Labbi Siffre chart success
'Somewhere Over The Rainbow,' - as sung by Judy Garland and Eva Cassidy

 

The ladies are singing -
'I Only Want To Be With You,' - as sung by Dusty Springfield
'Till There Was You,' - from 'The Music Man' and recorded by The Beatles.

 

The men are singing -
'With A Little Bit Of Luck,' - from 'My Fair Lady'
and 'When You Walk Through A Storm,' - the ultimate football anthem.
                                 

The chorus will give its next performance at the end-of-term showcase

on Friday March 26th 2010.

S I N G I N G   F O R   P L E A S U R E    W O R K S H O P -

10 a.m. - 6.00p.m. INCLUDING AFTERNOON PERFORMANCE

PLACES AVAILABLE AT £40 FOR THE DAY (£20 UNWAGED)

          Come along to learn show and pop tunes in harmony with a group of 30-35 other singers - no need to read music or sing alone. Just relax and enjoy.

                        Venue - the Wycliffe Centre, Cemetery Junction, Reading.

To give you an idea of what to expect, previous days have included songs from Green Day, The Beatles, Oliver!, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,

The Sound of Music, Fame, and the theme song from Friends.

There will be an afternoon performance on the day at the Wycliffe Centre at 5.00 p.m. Entrance to this is free, and there will be a retiring collection on behalf of a local charity.

and pieces by Noel Coward, Fascinating Aida, Victoria Wood, Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Gilbert and Sullivan, Johann Strauss, Richard Strauss, Schubert, Puccini, Walton, Cherubini, Lehar, Gluck, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Humperdinck, Handel, Barry Manilow, and Alma Cogan!
